Option Alpha and Options Matrix Pro do different jobs, and nothing moves automatically. OMP does not run bots or send orders, so your bots, backtests and broker connections stay in Option Alpha. What you can rebuild in OMP is the research side: your watchlists, the ideas behind each plan and the positions you want to track.

1

Before you begin

  • List the bots you run and write one line on the idea behind each. OMP needs the idea, not the bot.
  • Write down the symbols in your personal watchlist and the curated lists you follow.
  • Note which broker each bot trades through. Broker records stay the definitive record of positions and fills.
  • Keep your Option Alpha plan active until you have decided which parts you still need.
2

Match the way you work

See where the steps you use in Option Alpha sit inside OMP.

1

Find ideas

In OMP

Scan a saved watchlist or a broad universe for strategy candidates, then carry the exact result forward.

In Option Alpha

Follow personal and curated watchlists for IV rank, momentum and earnings, or let a bot filter market data against your rules.

2

Compare and model

In OMP

Rank strikes and expiries in Matrix, then open the exact legs in the Visualizer with expected move, Greeks and scenario controls.

In Option Alpha

Define entry and exit rules, then backtest variations side by side and combine up to four tests into one portfolio curve.

3

Place the trade

In OMP

Place the order with your own broker. OMP does not route orders.

In Option Alpha

A bot submits the order through your broker’s API. Your capital stays in your broker account.

4

Track and review

In OMP

Save the setup as a campaign, keep the thesis and notes, and ask AI Analyst for a second view.

In Option Alpha

Review bot logs, performance stats and position history, and override trades manually when needed.

3

Rebuild your setup in OMP

Bring across only the watchlists, scans and active trades you still use.

  1. 1

Create an OMP watchlist and add your symbols by hand.

  2. 2

Turn each bot’s entry rules into Matrix criteria or scanner filters, such as delta, days to expiry and Monthly Yield. Matrix needs Pro ($30/month) and the scanners need All Access ($50/month). Metric definitions differ, so check a few contracts by hand.

  3. 3

Open candidate trades in the Visualizer and review the payoff, expected move, probability and Greeks before you decide.

  4. 4

Recreate each open position leg by leg: strike, expiry, action, quantity and entry price, taken from your broker records.

  5. 5

Save validated trades as campaigns (Pro) and add the thesis, notes, rolls and adjustments.

  6. 6

Keep Option Alpha for the bots and backtests you still use, or cancel when you no longer need them.

What will not transfer

These stay in Option Alpha or have no OMP equivalent. Decide which you still need before you change your setup.

  • Bots, bot templates and bot history stay in Option Alpha. OMP does not run bots or send orders.
  • Backtests stay in Option Alpha. OMP does not run rule-based backtests.
  • Paper trading on live data stays in Option Alpha; OMP does not simulate order execution.
  • Broker connections stay in Option Alpha. You place OMP-researched trades with your own broker.

Frequently asked questions

Can OMP import my Option Alpha bots or watchlists?

No. Nothing moves automatically, and OMP does not run bots. Recreate the watchlists you want to keep, and use each bot’s entry rules as the starting point for Matrix criteria or scanner filters.

What happens to my Option Alpha bots if I cancel?

Option Alpha’s FAQ says all bots are turned off once the cancellation takes effect at the end of the subscription period, and you then have 30 days to reactivate and restore your bot templates. Active positions then need to be managed in your broker application.

Should I cancel Option Alpha before trying OMP?

No. Keep it while you test OMP’s research tools, because OMP cannot run your bots. Cancel only when you no longer need the bots, backtests or paper trading.
