You do not have to leave tastytrade to use Options Matrix Pro, and nothing transfers automatically. OMP cannot place orders, so you can keep tastytrade as your broker. What moves is the analysis: your watchlists, the chains and screens you check manually and the notes you keep on open trades. Rebuild those in OMP and check them against your tastytrade records.

1

Before you begin

  • Write down your tastytrade watchlists and the symbols you check most often.
  • List the strategies you use in Strategy Selector and the rules you apply, such as delta range, days to expiry and the premium you want.
  • Copy any journal notes you want to keep. They are not imported into OMP.
  • Keep your brokerage account. OMP does not place orders or hold funds, and tastytrade’s commissions are separate from an OMP subscription.
  • Treat tastytrade’s positions and fills as the definitive record while you test.
2

Match the way you work

See where the steps you use in tastytrade sit inside OMP.

1

Find ideas

In OMP

Scan a saved watchlist or a broad universe for strategy candidates, then carry the exact result forward.

In tastytrade

Use watchlists and AI Search on the web platform to find symbols.

2

Compare

In OMP

Rank strikes and expiries in Matrix by normalised yield, breakeven, probability and expected move.

In tastytrade

Read the options chain and pick a preset in Strategy Selector.

3

Model

In OMP

Open the exact legs in the Visualizer with expected move, Greeks and price, date and IV scenarios.

In tastytrade

Use Curve View and the analysis tab for profit and loss, probabilities and volatility shifts, and backtest the idea on 10+ years of data.

4

Place and track

In OMP

Place the order with your broker; OMP does not route orders. Then save the trade as a campaign with thesis, notes, rolls and adjustments.

In tastytrade

Place the order in the platform, follow it in order chains and add journal notes on the web platform.

3

Rebuild your setup in OMP

Bring across only the watchlists, scans and active trades you still use.

  1. 1

Create OMP watchlists and add the symbols by hand.

  2. 2

Rebuild each screen as a Matrix comparison (Pro, $30/month) or a scanner setup (All Access, $50/month), then check a few contracts by hand against tastytrade’s option chain.

  3. 3

Recreate the strategies you use in the Visualizer: strike, expiry, action, quantity and entry price for every leg.

  4. 4

Compare the P/L, breakeven and probability OMP shows with tastytrade’s Curve View for the same trade. Definitions can differ.

  5. 5

Save validated trades as campaigns (Pro) and paste in the notes you want to keep.

  6. 6

Keep placing orders with tastytrade, or with any other broker you choose.

4

What will not transfer

These stay in tastytrade or have no OMP equivalent. Decide which you still need before you change your setup.

  • Order entry, order chains and futures or crypto trading stay at tastytrade, because OMP does not place orders.
  • Options backtesting on 10+ years of data stays at tastytrade. OMP does not run rule-based backtests.
  • Journal entries in the tastytrade web platform stay there unless you copy them across.

Frequently asked questions

Can OMP import my tastytrade watchlists or journal?

No. Nothing transfers automatically. Add your symbols to an OMP watchlist by hand and copy across any journal notes you want to keep.

Do I still need tastytrade if I use OMP?

OMP does not place orders or hold funds, so you still need a broker. You can keep tastytrade as that broker. Using OMP does not require you to close or change your tastytrade account.

How do I check OMP’s numbers against tastytrade’s Curve View?

Open the same legs in the OMP Visualizer and compare breakeven, maximum profit and loss and the P/L at expiry with Curve View. Volatility inputs and probability definitions can differ between platforms, so confirm final details with your broker.
